Personally I would rather run the chiller than deal with the evaporation from an open top. LED’s will run quite a bit cooler, meaning you dont necessarily need any type of cooling, and the “bulbs” last MUCH longer, though they do cost more up front.

I would have gone with the Max myself as hqi-eeef seems a nano-ccube better made with a really hqi-teef electric system only 1 plug with a built in “circuit breaker”but it was just a little too expensive for me.

I just took an old computer fan and wired it to a cell phone plug and have it sitting on the back chamber facing the water and now the temp climbs only to about 79 so it helped. It is a significant upgrade over older designs and features such as the metal halide lighting, Ocean Pulse Duo Wavemaker, and protein skimmer make it an attractive option. LED is the newcomer and not everyone thinks highly of it.

If you’re seeing this message, you haven’t met them yet. Looks to be with the stand. However, if you want to minimize the amount of tinkering you have to do and have an all-enclosed system that looks very professional, you cannot go wrong with this tank. Finally, hqi-reev aquarium’s canopy is great.
